Roxi
 |
OWNER, ORIGINAL POLE, PARTY, & BURLESQUE INSTRUCTOR
Roxi has always been passionate about the arts. She started performing in middle school in plays, musicals, band, any thing she had time for. After high school many of those activities got lost in the day to day of adult life, but she would soon be on stage again.
Roxi started working in a Cleveland area Gentlemen's Club at 19. It was a difficult journey at first; trying to recognize her beauty amongst all the model-like women, trying to overcome self-doubt and shyness. Eventually she started looking inside and found her own confidence and sensuality. And she learned the truth about all women: there is a goddess in each one of us. Helping women find that goddess and love themselves is why she puts her everything into Cleveland Exotic Dance.
Roxi teaches pole, exotic dance, and burlesque. She has had over10 years exotic dancing, training in anatomy, and 4 years experience in massage and bodywork. |
MANAGER, POLE: LEVELS I, II, & III, BURLESQUE, SPECIAL TOPICS, PARTIES
Lisa's first exposure to pole and exotic dance came in 2007 when she was a student in our first class here at CED. She worked her way through the pole classes, was offered a position as a pole party instructor, and eventually became one of our regular pole instructors and manager.
Lisa has been involved in dance and theater for over 20 years. She has dual degrees from the University of Akron in Media Production and Radio & TV. Though she loves dancing and performing, Lisa is a natural planner that feels at home putting productions together, whether it be for film, television, or the stage.
In 2004, Lisa starting having problems with joint pain, weight gain, and extreme fatigue. Almost a year later, she was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), a chronic autoimmune disease. SLE had caused her to put on weight and that paired with the arthritis forced her to learn how to live in her body again. Roxi's dance classes were instrumental to this. She learned how to once again be comfortable in her own skin and feel sexy at any size. All these years later, her SLE is fully under control and her weight back down through a combination of medication, diet, and strength bearing exercises like pole dance.
In addition to modern exotic dance, Lisa is also involved in burlesque and is a member of the comedic burlesque troupe Hilar-A-Tease. She has an extensive health and fitness background, has been a vegetarian for over 10 years, and dabbles in yoga, Pilates, and kickboxing. |

I was at a party in 2006 with a couple close friends. We had the music on, were dancing and talking, and having a great time. The topic went to exotic dance and then the dancing went there also.
My best friend (who had also previously been a dancer) and I were showing the other ladies some moves, and one of them said "You should really teach this." I blew it off at the time, but the thought stuck with me.
Shortly after that party I purchased a pole and transformed my living room (thank you hubby) into my practice studio. It had been a couple years since I had been on stage so I had a lot of work ahead of me. I had dance and theater training in high school but I had never been taught exotic dance. When you work in the clubs you learn by doing. So, I had to carefully go back and break down each movement to be able to teach it.
By spring 2007 I had a working class format and enlisted the help of my friends to try it out on them. Later in 2007 I started doing bachelorette and birthday parties. Everyone loved it and was begging me for a regular class. The planning and training myself continued. Throughout 2008 I developed more classes, continued doing parties, and planned for the studio. Finally, December 2008 I found our first studio. We quickly outgrew that space and moved to a more central location in downtown Cleveland in July 2010 where we are currently located.
The freedom, grace, sensuality, and self-confidence exotic dance has given me is something I want to share with all women.
